Mr. Patan Somburanasin, General Manager of TICON Logistics Park Co.,Ltd. (TPARK)  reveals, “2012 was a record year for TPARK. 2012 warehouse space for lease  increased by 45% compared to total space leased in 2011 – a record high in the company’s 7 years of operation.  TPARK continued to expand its core business to cover one-stop services for logistics park and high quality ready-built warehouses (RBW) for lease at international standard level.  We believe that with our strong financial fundamentals and pioneering experiences in the warehouse for lease business, the company will achieve the aggressive target set for 2013.”

As of 31st December 2012, TPARK had a total of 82 customers representing a totally accumulated leased warehouse space of 546,753 square meters. About 40% of TPARK’s customers are Japanese such as Denso, Sony, Mitsubishi Motor, NYK, ISUZU, etc.  Others include DHL, VIA Logistics, CEVA Logistics, Thai Samsung Electronics, Makro, Big C, DKSH, L’Oreal, and so on.

“TPARK has set 2013 target for 60% growth in warehouse space for lease from 546,753 square meters leased as of 2012. Hence the total new leased space in 2013 will increase to 328,500 square meters.  The set target was based on Thailand’s positive economic outlook.  Investment in industrial sector continues to increase with majority from overseas investors.  Thailand continues to be one of the best manufacturing base and distribution hub to ASEAN markets for various industries such as electrical and electronic products.  In addition, Thailand’s automotive industry has been ranked up to the ninth in the world, making the country the biggest automotive exporter in Southeast Asia.” Mr. Patan said.

Concerning the business direction of TPARK in 2013, Mr. Patan disclosed that the company has budget 5.5 billion baht for investment in 2013.  The budget will be used for expansion of existing logistics parks, and development of new projects in strategic locations in Northeastern region such as Khon Kaen and in areas adjacent to Amata Nakorn Industrial estates and Bangna-Trad km.20-40 area.  The plan is aimed at expanding TPARK’s customer base and preparing for the ASEAN Economics Community or AEC which will be effective in 2015.  At the same time the company plans to expand projects in existing TPARK’s locations which has high potential to be distribution centers in order to facilitate increasing demand for warehouses such as TPARK Sriracha, and TPARK Laemchabang, etc. The company expects that the plan will help increase TPARK customer base.

“TPARK recently purchased 200 rai of land in Khon Kaen which will be developed as the first Logistics Park and warehouses for lease in the Northeastern Zone.  Khon Kaen is a strategic location along the economic East-West corridor.  Being the capital of the Northeastern region, the province is the center for growing trade and services in the region and also attracts highly increasing investment in various industries especially in retail business, modern trade and construction equipment and materials.  Realising the potential of this location TPARK is confident that the warehouses for lease business in this zone will be well successful. We plan to complete the Khon Kaen project within the next 3 years with an investment of approximately 2 billion baht,” Mr. Patan said.

“Apart from domestic investment, TPARK is also looking for opportunity for investment in ASEAN Region.  The company is conducting feasibility studies for investment in neighboring countries such as Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia.  We have sent a team to explore potential locations and study Rules and Regulations including legal concerns in these targeted countries and hope to conclude our decision within this year,” concluded Mr. Patan.
