Mr. Aloke Lohia, Group CEO at Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (IVL) recently joined a conversation on the topic of “Voices for Solutions to the Plastic Pollution Conundrum” at SEA of Solutions: Partnership Week for Marine Plastic Pollution Prevention, which was organized by the United Nation Environmental Program (UNEP) and COBSEA at the United Nation Conference Centre in Bangkok. The dialogue sharing focused on ways forward and collective actions amplified by a partnership approach to prevent marine plastic pollution in South East Asia.
“In this regard, Indorama Ventures strongly believes that the recycling of PET will go a long way to mitigating the plastic waste problem. Today, PET is the most recycled and recyclable plastics in the world. IVL is investing heavily into recycling in order to play its role in helping to solve the plastic waste problem. The company are also investing in new technology, such as chemical recycling, which will revolutionize recycling globally. Indorama Ventures is making a commitment that we will increase our recycling of PET bottles to 750,000 tonnes by 2025 by investing a budget of US$ 1.5 billion towards achieving our target,” Mr. Lohia stated.
