The safety of personnel is always the first priority, particularly in industries with dangerous working environment such as steel manufacturing, refinery or petrochemical industry. Monitoring of personnel in such environments is essential to ensure safety. During the emergency situation accurate real-time information is critical. Traditional management systems are unable to cope with this challenge. They fail to provide complete visibility. The manual procedures for people locating and counting are deeply unreliable, time consuming, and prone to human error.
Identify employs an active RFID technology to minimize injuries and increase the efficiency in emergency evacuation operation.
Each staff has his own active RFID tag. Staff details including name and department will be registered into the system and associated with the active tag. During the emergency evacuation period, the fire warden simply carries a RFID handheld reader to locate individual person and to check if there are any persons in the premise. The handheld unit can read the RFID tag at the distance 8-10 metres. If there are any persons within the reading zone, his name will be automatically display on the handheld reader.
Traditionally, the fire warden has to manually check and count the number of person in the building during the evacuation. The solution can ensure the rescues teams can find all personnel in a facility during an emergency and also increases the speed of rescue, making it safer for the persons in distress as well as the rescue searching for them.
Identify has implemented this solution for one of the largest petroleum exploration company in Thailand. Approximately, there are 200-300 staff in the site. We have extended our solution to access control solution. The staff at the site can use the same card for access control purpose and emergency evacuation operation.
