Education New Zealand ; ENZ announced the Earth Guardians Character Design Competition 2021 powered by Massey University and Weta Workshop. They’re hunting for the best young international concept designers and have an amazing collection of prizes.
Massey University is one of New Zealand’s eight universities which ranked in the top 100 QS ranking by subject area for art and design. Their College of Creative Arts has partnered with Weta Workshop and other industry sponsors to launch a new concept design competition called Earth Guardians, to celebrate the launch of the University’s new Concept Design Major.
This is an opportunity for Thai High School students (aged 14-18 years as of July 1, 2021) to showcase your creative ideas with other international students in EARTH GUARDIANS Charter Design Competition 2021. The contestants are to create a character to defend the earth, using nature and the elements to inspire your designs. Tell us where your character lives, what special powers it has and links it may have to specific places, myths and legends.
The competition is open to Thai aged 14–18 years old. Prizes are available in two categories:
– International Ultimate Concept Artist Award
Prize: Wacom 16” Cintiq Pen Display to take your design career global
– Adobe International Rising Stars Highly Commended Awards x5
Prize: 1Year Adobe Stock or Adobe Creative Cloud subscription
Characters can be submitted as digital images, scanned drawings, paintings or high-quality photographs of 3D models. Entry Submissions must include the name of your character, a 300-word description of the inspiration behind your character, their living environment and any special powers or tools they use. Each individual may submit a maximum of 2 entries, which must be 2 different characters. Entries must be your own original idea and not a copy of anyone
