Chiang Mai, Thailand – The environmentally friendly dusitD2 chiang mai and Royal Princess Chiang Mai have achieved EarthCheck Silver benchmark status from the world’s leading sustainable travel and tourism certification organisation.
According to EarthCheck, the two Dusit International’s hotels in Chiang Mai are committed to benchmarking local environmental and social issues; such as biodiversity conservation, environmental investment and enhanced community socio-economic benefits. The evaluation involved submitting a year’s worth of operational data for comparison with similar communities. The Silver Benchmark indicates that dusitD2 chiang mai and Royal Princess Chiang Mai are able to identify where their hotels are out-performing others while emerging as an example of a community organisation committed to environmentally sustainable living.
“We continue to establish numerous environmental programmes related to global warming” said Ms Sukanya Janchoo, General Manager of dusitD2 chiang mai and Royal Princess Chiang Mai. “We aim to focus on ‘The 3 Rs’: reduce, reuse and recycle in the operation of both hotels to show the awareness of the importance of environmental conservation”
As part of their green initiative, two Dusit International’s hotels in Chiang Mai are working towards achieving Gold status and continuously strive to take a holistic view of sustainability practices, and measure key environment indicators, such as energy and water consumption, total waste production as well as community commitment.
